Why Choose Lab-grown Diamonds Over Mined Diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are physically, optically and chemically similar to mined diamonds but they are both produced differently. Mined diamonds are formed deep in the earth’s crust over millions of years while lab grown diamonds are created within weeks using cutting edge technology.
The two methods used to produce lab grown are - CVD and HPHT. Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) creates diamonds using low pressure and high temperature in a diamond chamber and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) mimics the conditions of the Earth on a diamond seed. Both methods use a controlled environment and are produced within the confines of a laboratory.
Grading & Certification
Lab-grown diamonds are graded and certified using the same process as mined diamonds. Internationally recognized grading gem labs grade diamonds on the basis of cut, color, clarity and carat. This determines their value, look and size. Some popular diamond certification labs are Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and International Gemological Institute (IGI).
